We map memtransistors from physics to systems, showing how a gated resistive-switching device family can replicate heterosynaptic and homeostatic behaviors while suppressing sneak paths and enabling near- and in-sensor computing. If you care about making neuromorphic hardware that is both device-physics grounded and system-ready for multisensory, low-power autonomy, this perspective lays out materials, architectures, and the open problems you actually need to solve.
